The book is described as a “souvenir … put together to help us celebrate the 150th anniversary of the building of the first church in Hope River in 1843.” The book includes information on early Celtic and Acadian settlement, churches, schools, Parish organizations, distinguished Parish members and priests and Religious Sisters, Veterans, along with the census for 1993. The volume shows edge wear and scuffing from age and usage. Original owner’s name written in pencil on the title page. Otherwise, the contents are clean. Overall, we rate the condition of the book as fair to good.
Hope River is 7 mi (11 km) northwest of Hunter River in Lot 22; district on both sides of Hope River and including St. Ann. The Hope River flows northwest into New London Bay.
Hope River was named by Captain Samuel Holland, probably for Colonel Hope, a friend of Frederick Haldiman and later Lt. Gov. of Quebe
