The book was issued to celebrate the 50th Anniversary for Montague’s Garden Of The Gulf Museum in 2008. The volume contains a huge quantity of photo-style illustrations from the late 19th-century through to the mid-20th-century. Barbara Boys MacCormac writes that the “museum has been home to a large collection of photos for many years. This book project has enabled the museum to enhance that collection with the result being a thoughtful book which tells a wonderful story through the power of pictures.” Chapter headings include Home & Community; Rail, Roads and Waterways; Industry & Development; Open for Business; Pleasures & Pastimes; and Town and Country Sights.
